I woke up with the biggest desire to clean yesterday. It was like I was pregnant and nesting…though I am not pregnant. Working from home can have it’s ups and downs…and for me, one of the downs is it seems my house is NEVER clean – so it’s good when the bug comes by for a visit.
Maybe it’s because I’m here so much and more things get used or put out of place. This means more laundry, more dirty dishes, and more general untidiness. Maybe it’s because I am here so much and I am constantly reminded that I need to clean. No leaving for work and not seeing the mess until later in the day. It’s always here for me to look at!
So, I gave into the cleaning bug yesterday, scrubbing down the kitchen and living room, making all the beds (a rarity here), sorting through and organizing toys, and doing three loads of laundry. Sawyer even took notice of the cleaning spree Mommy was on, and asked to help!
The accomplishment I felt once I finished was refreshing as well! When I’m blogging, I feel there’s always more that I can do. More promotion, more scheduling posts, more networking with other bloggers. It really is a never-ending job. With cleaning my house, however, once it’s clean, I’m finished! I could be finished and enjoy the work I had done.
Though our home isn’t a pig sty on a normal day, it’s very rare that I can get this much done all at once. I’m more of a “spread it all out over the week” kind of housewife. Things usually stay dusty longer than they should and the poor floors are begging by the time they see a vacuum. Not this week though!
Today, I feel like I have nothing to do since things are still tidy from yesterday. The cleaning bug is gone now anyways, so I will just enjoy the clean house while it lasts…and survive until the bug bites me again!
Does the cleaning bug bite you like this? Do you typically let the house go until you have a mad urge to make it all spotless?
