If you want to do something thought-provoking with your child this Fall, give this Thankful Pumpkin Kids Craft a try. It only takes a few materials, and it’s easy enough for kids to do themselves. I think this would be fun for a class project, or maybe something with Girl/Boy Scouts?
Once the Thankful Pumpkin craft made, the child can write in what she is thankful for. Ask them to change it everyday, getting them to think about all the things they are grateful for in their lives!
Thankful Pumpkin Kids Craft
1. Begin by applying two coats to the inside circle of the saucer. Try to keep all of the paint within the edges of the saucer so the outside border is clean. Allow several hours to dry.
2. In the meantime you can glue a piece of green pipe cleaner to the back of the saucer. Twirl the pipe cleaner around your finger or a pencil to make it look like a spiraling vine.
3. Once the chalkboard paint dries, you can use a piece of chalk on the inside to write things you are thankful for. You can erase the message and change it out daily during the days leading up to Thanksgiving.
