7 Unusual Money Saving Tips for Moms
Use the same bath water for everyone
I don’t know where you live, but where I reside, the water bill is expensive! This is an unusual way to save money, but it can be done. Use the same bath water for everyone in your household. I like to go from cleanest to dirtiest, which means I usually go first because my kids are way dirtier than me. With that being said, your family doesn’t have to shower every day, which can also save money.
Make your own hygiene products
Looking for another unusual way to save money? Moms can save money by making their own hygiene products. Think about making your own soap, shampoo, toothpaste, and anything else you can think of! There are so many recipes on the Internet to choose from for this purpose.
Use products for different purposes
Think about it, you have purchased products in your home for one purpose, but they are probably good for other purposes. Take a simple product like vinegar that can be used in a ton of different ways. One of the most versatile products in my home is mayonnaise. It can make a sandwich awesome and moisturize my hair.
Downsize your home
Stay with me for a moment. How can downsizing actually save you money? Less space means less things you can buy because you have less places to store them. By downsizing, you can also eliminate a high mortgage. Usually smaller spaces are cheaper. However, if you need to get serious about saving even more money, you may have to reconsider where you are living, geography wise.
Go without turning on lights during the day
I have done this many times! You don’t “NEED” to have your lights on all day, every day. You can save a ton of money by making a pact to not turn on your lights during the day. Open up the curtains and close your wallet because you will save a ton of money this way.
Water down your products just a little bit
This sure is an unusual way to save money, but it works. Water can help certain things last that much longer. I have watered down milk in our home before, but you can water down so many products. Cleaning supplies can be watered down and so can hygiene products. Over time, you learn the what the perfect amount of water is to add to the products in your home to make them last longer.
Don’t use a professional
You read that right. Your whole life you were trained to use a professional for services, but this is where it is time to get a little unusual. You don’t have to go to the dentist to get your teeth cleaned, go to a dental school. Get your hair cut at a beauty school. You get the idea.
