I’m not complaining, but I lead a busy life. With two kids, two blogs, a husband, a house, and everything else going on, it can get stressful at times. It can get a bit difficult to find “me time” during my hectic schedule. But I need a few minutes to just relax and chill, or I may go crazy!
My mom does keep her grandsons every now and then, but usually my husband is home then. While he does leave me be to blog or whatever, I feel bad that we don’t spend much kid-free time together. So, I usually end up watching television, playing games, or talking with him – which still doesn’t get me my precious me time.
Does this sound like you too? If so, here is my advice on finding me time in the everyday. I try to do at least one a day (and maybe all if the day is going REALLY bad…).
1. I take a shower. This gives me 10-15 minutes of uninterrupted time to myself. Usually it’s more like 10, but I’ll take it! I always say I do my best thinking in the shower, and it’s true. I have come up with brainstormed blog posts, solved problems, and just thought through a situation all from my bathroom.
2. I walk to the mailbox and back. Yes, it takes no more than 2 minutes. However, I totally stall when I’m are outside alone, since it rarely happens. Stop and smell the flowers. Look up and admire the clouds. Do anything to delay going back into the house for few minutes. The fresh air is very calming, helping you combat any stressful day.
3. I pop in my Sol Republic earphones and close my eyes, right there on the couch. I wait until my husband gets home to do this. I love that I can do this within the same room as everyone yet I totally close out what’s going on around me. I only need a few minutes of this to start feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the rest of the day (i.e. – dinner, bathes, bedtime, and blogging).
These three little activities allow me to stay sane by finding a few minutes of me time. I don’t have to get out and go shopping or find a babysitter. I can rejuvenate myself and brighten my mood while still at home by doing these.
