As a fun bridal shower idea for my sister and his fiance, I created a DIY Date Night Jar. This allowed the guests to pitch in their ideas of fun and exciting date nights, in case the newlyweds were out of ideas. Once it was filled, my sister took it home with her to use in the future.
DIY Date Night Jar
- Mason Jar, Quart Size
- Large Popsicle Sticks – provided by Oriental Trading
- Sharpie Pens or Markers
- Small Chalkboard Sign
- Chalk Markers
To make this DIY Date Night Jar, I started by decorating the jar itself. We wanted to keep it simple, so my aunt and I added a little ribbon around the neck of the jar. I picked up a small chalkboard sign that I could write on to label the jar. The sign came with a white ribbon so we looped it around the top of the jar.
At the bridal shower, I sat the jar on the table with the “Don’t Say Bride” bridal shower game. I placed a couple of Sharpie pens and a stack of large wooden sticks beside the jar. All the guests needed to do was write down a date night suggestion on the sticks and drop them in the jar.
During the shower, I took the center piece of the jar’s lid out but left the ring on. Then, once the shower was over, we replaced the lid so the popsicle sticks wouldn’t spill out. All in all, my sister has about 15 Date Night Ideas in her jar for her and her soon to be husband!
Oriental Trading has a ton of wedding and bridal shower items to help plan your next event. I appreciate them sending over these sticks as well as other bridal shower supplies for my sister’s special event!
