Since I purchased my iPad (3rd Generation), I have been using it here and there for blogging. It’s great for checking email, browsing Facebook groups, and I can even use it to write blog posts. Only using the on-screen keyboard can sometimes be a pain, so I was excited when I received a ZAGGfolio case and keyboard to review.
Long before I even had my iPad, I had heard great things about ZAGG. It’s been recommended to me as the top brand for cases and keyboards. Therefore, I knew I wanted to try out the ZAGGfolio to help make blogging with my iPad 3 easier.
When the case came in the mail, I couldn’t wait to put my iPad in it and give the keyboard a try. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work with any other cases, so my OtterBox had to be removed. The iPad does fit snugly inside the folio, however, so no worries about damage. The outside of the case is made of ABS plastic, and its hardness ensures me my iPad is safe.
Connecting my iPad to the keyboard took less than two minutes. All I had to do was enable Bluetooth, and my iPad quickly detected the keyboard. Once a four digit code was typed in, I was ready to go. The keyboard has made it much easier to write drafts and emails right from my iPad.
The ZAGGfolio’s case offers a built-in stand, so I can easily see the screen as I type. My iPad can be used upright or on its side within the case, and I like having that option depending on what I am doing when I’m typing. Opening and closing the case controls the sleep and wake modes of my iPad. When I close the case, I hear the familiar click to let me know the device is locked. When I open it again, the home screen is presented, waiting for me to unlock the iPad.
This iPad keyboard is just the right size for convenient typing. It has a space-saving design yet the keys are big enough for my fingers to type accurately. The rechargeable keyboard works for months on a single charge, and can easily be recharged with a USB cord.
The ZAGGfolio also gives you the option of removing the keyboard from the case. This may make it easier if you are typing on a desk or other surface. I think I would use it inside the case more, especially when I am typing with my iPad all my lap.
The keyboard has all the keys a regular computer has, and also features a row of keyboard shortcuts specifically for the iPad 3. Some of the shortcuts include volume, copy and paste, music, and more.
Overall, I highly recommend the ZAGGfolio and keyboard to anyone that uses their iPad for tasks that require lots of typing. The on-screen keyboard is sufficient in most cases but having an external keyboard just makes my life easier!
