Third Trimester Comfort Tips for Pregnant Women
Dress in layers. Just like the Spring & Summer months, pregnancy comes with a random thermostat. Some women tend to run hot, while others run cold. Often you can be shivering one minute and the next break out in a hot sweat. Dress in loose layers that are easy to remove or add as needed. Dresses with leggings, cardigans or sweaters on hand are great choices. You can easily add or remove while still remaining decent for mixed company.
Use body pillows. There is a reason the body pillow or pregnancy pillow is so popular. It gives a lot of support and comfort for a body that feels like it is about to pop. Body pillows allow you to have something between your knees to relieve pressure on your hips and lower back. This helps you to sleep more comfortably in the few positions your body can manage during these last few months.
Elevate your feet. The ottoman, pillows or recliner will become your best friend as swelling begins to be an issue. Not every woman will struggle with swelling, but those that do will swear by elevation and hydration. Be mindful of swelling and consult your doctor if it gets to be too much.
Drink infused water. Sometimes plain water is tough to get down. Invest in a fruit diffuser for your water bottle so you can add a bit of bright flavor to help you stay hydrated. Being well hydrated prevents pesky UTI’s, swelling and muscle cramps that plague the last few months of pregnancy.
Cocoa butter for your belly. In the last month, your body will feel like it is stretched to it’s limits. A little cocoa butter or other great belly butter will be not only needed but desired at this point. The right lotion will help your tummy to not feel so tight and uncomfortable, plus it will help minimize the stretch marks that may be cropping up.
There will be times in the last trimester of pregnancy that you simply don’t feel like doing anything at all. These third trimester comfort tips for pregnant women are there to help you make this time a little easier. Above all, cut yourself some slack and know that this time is tough but very much worth it.
