As a mom of an infant and toddler, I long for more time to get things done. There just aren’t enough hours in the day. Though Dawson is still sleeps a lot, I constantly feel the urge to be near him, should he stop breathing, spit up in his sleep, or do something else to endanger his life.
Luckily, I received the Levana Ovia PTX Baby Video Monitor to review earlier this month. This little device has made life much easier in terms of getting things done while my baby sleeps. Because he sleeps better in our room, away from the noise of his brother, I can put him down for naps in there without worry.
The video aspect of the Levana Monitor just may be the greatest baby gear invention ever. Being able to see my son whenever I want gives me the peace of mind to get more done when he is asleep. I can work on my blog, do housework, and play with my older kiddo with no worries.
Set up of the video baby monitor is a breeze. You just insert the battery, allow the camera and monitor to charge, and they are ready for use. Speaking of the battery, it lasts several days before needing another charge. This is great because I don’t have to remember to charge it daily – I have enough to do already!
When it comes to the monitor’s use, the 4.3-inch screen makes it easy to see, in detail, just what my kids are doing. For Dawson, I like to turn on the lullabies included in the camera. Both boys need music to sleep so this added feature is great in our home.
I have also been using the monitor in Sawyer’s room, to keep an eye on him when he’s playing alone. Because Dawson still sleeps in our room, I currently use it at night to monitor to the older kid. The invisible LEDs give me a clear picture in the darkness. Between two kids, it’s getting tons of use in our home for sure!
The two-way communication makes it easy for me to ask Sawyer to come into the kitchen for dinner, as opposed to yelling through the house (I can’t be the only mom who does that!). Also, I like that I can pan, tilt, and zoom the camera for full viewing, no matter where Sawyer is playing in his room.
Another benefit of the this monitor I noticed was that it is wireless, so no cords to present a choking or strangulation hazard for the baby or Sawyer. This also makes it easier to move about the house.
Levana has focused solely of offering baby monitors to the public, meaning they can fully dedicate their time, money, and research to perfect their products. I really like this about them, as so many baby brands want to offer hundreds of products to parents. They continuously question moms about what they need most, then create products to solve these issues and make life easier.
