Last year, I went on my first Disney press trip for the movie, Tomorrowland. A couple weeks ago, I got my second invitation to a Disney trip – this time for the Red Carpet Premiere of The BFG!
Yes, I said red carpet! The same carpet the stars and crew from the movie, and perhaps other celebrities, will be walking in Los Angeles. To say I’m excited is a bit of an understatement!!!
The talents of three of the world’s greatest storytellers – Roald Dahl, Walt Disney and Steven Spielberg – finally unite to bring Dahl’s beloved classic “The BFG” to life. I have been busy reading the book with Sawyer in preparation for my trip to L.A. So far, it’s a great read. I can’t wait to see the movie!
About the Movie:
Directed by Spielberg, Disney’s “The BFG” tells the imaginative story of a young girl and the Giant who introduces her to the wonders and perils of Giant Country. The BFG (Mark Rylance), while a giant himself, is a Big Friendly Giant and nothing like the other inhabitants of Giant Country. Standing 24-feet tall with enormous ears and a keen sense of smell, he is endearingly dim-witted and keeps to himself for the most part.
Giants like Bloodbottler (Bill Hader) and Fleshlumpeater (Jemaine Clement) on the other hand, are twice as big and at least twice as scary and have been known to eat humans, while the BFG prefers Snozzcumber and Frobscottle. Upon her arrival in Giant Country, Sophie, a precocious 10-year-old girl from London, is initially frightened of the mysterious giant who has brought her to his cave, but soon comes to realize that the BFG is actually quite gentle and charming, and, having never met a giant before, has many questions.
Disney’s The BFG is coming to theaters July 1, 2016!
Be sure to follow along with our press trip on June 20-22: #TheBFGEvent
While in L.A., we will also be joining Disney XD and attending a special screening event of the upcoming animated series “Future-Worm!,” created and executive produced by Emmy Award-winner Ryan Quincy (“South Park”) and premieres later this summer.
“Future-Worm!” is an offbeat comedy adventure that follows Danny, an optimistic 12-year-old who creates a time machine lunch box and befriends Future Worm, a fearless worm from the future with titanium-enforced abs. We will get to do a little Q&A session with Ryan following the episode.
