I received complementary Day Out with Thomas tickets in exchange for my post. All opinions are mine!
This weekend, the four of us were able to meet Thomas the Tank Engine and Sir Topham Hatt again at Day Out with Thomas 2014 in Chattanooga, TN! Last year, we went and even though it rained, we still had fun. Saturday, the weather was perfect so it was a blast!
Imagination Station is by far Sawyer’s favorite area of the event. We always spend the most time under the big tent, playing with the trains and their tracks. Here, you can also color some of your favorite Thomas tank engines and get a temporary tattoo. Sawyer grabbed a few coloring sheets for home, since he was too busying driving the trains around the island of Sodor tables!
Not long after got there, we had to line up for our turn to ride Thomas. For Day Out with Thomas, tickets are purchased based on the time you want to ride. Though you can get there when it opens and stay until closing time, you want to make sure you are in line to board Thomas at your designated time. We were in Car 5, the last one of the train.
The 20 minute ride took us through the countryside, and we were able to enjoy the scenery. We even saw a couple other trains pass by, and Sawyer was sure one was Hiro!
Once our ride was over, we headed to the front to get a picture with Thomas. That was followed by a photo opp with Sir Topham Hatt. Sawyer wouldn’t have much to do with him this year, but we were still able to capture their meeting on camera.
With the photos out of the way, Sawyer enjoyed the other festivities of Day Out with Thomas. They had a bounce house, 9-hole mini golf course, and petting zoo.
Our last stop was the gift shop, to grab a couple souvenirs to remember our day. Though it’s almost summer and was 80 degrees that day, my child picked a fleece blanket as his momento!
All in all, Day Out with Thomas is a fun event for all train lovers. This was our second year and we are looking forward to going again next year! Make sure you bring a camera and grab the paper that you have stamped at four locations throughout the event. Turning that paper in at the gift shop once it’s been stamped gets your little one a free prize!
