I attended the 2015 IKEA Catalog Reveal Party. I received a gift card for this post, but all opinions are mine!
When we moved into our home, we did so on a tight budget. Lots of things we already owned. We mostly only bought odds and ends. We already had bedroom furniture, and that’s still what we were using…which I thought was fine.
Until I went to IKEA last week. Yes, that place is just heavenly. Seeing the full bedroom setups made me long for something new. Something more peaceful and relaxing. A bedroom oasis I can retreat to at the end of the day to rest my tired self.
It’s crazy to think how little time we spend decorating our room, yet how important the room is! It’s the first and last room we use every day. It’s meant to be our personal space, one we chill out in. Shouldn’t it be a nice place to lounge?!
On my IKEA trip, I was able to hear more about the bedroom offerings, both in store and in the 2015 catalog. That book is simply amazing. Since coming home, I have been flipping through the catalog, planning a dream bedroom for me and James. Here’s what I’m thinking…
1. Comfortable bed with soft lighting.
Obviously, the bed needs to be a place where you can relax and get rested well enough for the following day. I sometimes like to read before sleeping, so it’s also nice to have some soft lighting that isn’t too stimulating for the mind. And that soft headboard would be luxurious for sitting up to read – or for when I get some breakfast in bed. *hint hint, honey*
2. Supportive, durable mattress.
Our current mattress is about 11 years old – in mattress years, that means it’s overdue for a replacement! IKEA offers such a range of types that I could seriously stay in that section forever.
3. Lots of storage for all my “things”.
Since we have owned our home, we have converted both extra bedrooms to room for our kids. Gone are the days when we had more space than stuff and storage wasn’t an issue. Now, however, our bedroom – the peaceful, clean sanctuary that it once was – is overrun with extra clothes, books, and more.
Enter IKEA’s storage solutions! Their PAX system lets you turn a corner of your room (or closet) into a highly functional, stylish storage area. So many drawers, shelves, and racks for hanging!
4. Nice accessories that really make the room.
Not only does IKEA offer the large furniture for your bedroom oasis, but there are lots of extras that really make the space perfect for you. I really like their wide selection of curtains, art, and rugs!
